I had no grace in my mobility, today. I woke with a case of vertigo that had me bumping into walls, and had the world spinning every time I stood.

I had so many things to accomplish today, including a few errands. I had hoped that after I took some of my allergy meds, that I’d be able to chance getting out for a couple of those errands. Alas, that was not to be.
I used to be considered a graceful roller skater, despite the fact that I never was a very graceful dancer, or even a graceful walker. I was know for my two left feet through most of my life, except when I strapped those roller skates on. Once I stood on those eight wheels, I could glide, dance, and roll around with the grace of a swan or a cat.

I rarely post anything in November. I searched past posts from other sites, and there was nothing to share. I was usually using all my writing momentum to blast, struggle, and vomit words on a page for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writer’s Month).
Last year, was a different story. I had spent about two and a half weeks, in November, in a nursing facility recovering from major, life-saving surgery. I had very little access to a computer, and even less access to the internet. For a Writer’s Workshop prompt I had written the following.

In October, I learned that I had stopped breathing while on the operating table. In October, I learned how lucky I am to be alive. In October, I learned what the difference is between physical therapy and occupational therapy.
October was a challenging month. October was full of ups and downs.
I spent seventeen days in a nursing facility in October. I watched more television in those seventeen days, than I watched for most of the year. I had a fairly steady flow of visitors at the SNF during my stay. Those visitors were a balm for those long days in the SNF.

Written for The Sound of One Hand Typing’s Writer’s Workshop. John Holton gives us six writing prompts to choose from. I chose two prompts for this week: (1) Write a post in exactly 9 sentences. and (2) Tell us about something you learned in October.
Once Eliana was alone, she thought about how absurd her situation was. She had been shot with a dart filled with drugs. She had been abducted from her job site and left to die at the edge of an ocean. She reflected on that. The only people who knew that she would be there were the people she was meeting up with, and probably their supervisors. She couldn’t figure out how anyone else knew. She didn’t see anyone else at the site that wasn’t supposed to be there. She had either not noticed anyone stalking her, or this was an inside job. That last possibility chilled her to the bone.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday has become a tradition of mine. As Fandango is taking a well-deserved break, at the moment, I will post a Flashback memory in his honor.
This post was posted on another site in 2006. It was ‘written’ by a fictional character as an personal amusement.

My friend, Yvensong, has been encouraging me to write a blog. I’ve put it off, not sure I wanted to expose myself to the world. I’ve decided today, that would change.
Yvensong had handed me a book to read and so, I thought I’d start with that.
I’ve just finished reading The Awakening: The Vampire Huntress Legend. As I was reading this little bit of fiction, I found myself giggling at some of the more outrageous themes. Giving them a bit more consideration, maybe they aren’t all that laughable, after all.
Grant you; the vampire population in Reno, Nevada is nowhere as cumbersome as it is in Los Angeles, California. I’m not sure why, but I’ll get to a hypothesis in a moment. It seems that a city that has so many 24-hour spots to visit would be more welcoming to a night creature.
I think the most laughable theme in this novel, along with so many others like it, is that holy objects, even words will wipe out a vampire. {chuckles dryly} I suppose if that makes you feel safer and helps you sleep at night, then so be it. Let me not be the one to dash all your hopes and faith.
I could share with you what may work, but I won’t. I have no desire to be implemental in the eliminating of a species, no matter how abhorrent the species seems to you.
And now, my hypothesis – Reno’s 24-hour spots are downtown. There are lots of people around, but there are also a lot of bright lights glowing all night long. The dark streets of Los Angeles are much more conducive to the nature of a vampire’s desires.

Dan of No Facilities blogging fame, has asked us to honor Cee Neuner . Here is what he has to say: “This Friday, November 7th, several of us bloggers are asking you to post a flower or a black and white photo on your blog, in memory of Cee Neuner. Your photo can be the subject of your post, or just a photo you add to a different post. Visit either my blog (https://noFacilities.com), or Marsha’s (https://alwayswrite.blog/), or both and leave a link to your post.”
I didn’t know Cee very well, but I did follow her FOTD (Flower of the Day) Challenge. It’s obvious by the many tributes to her today, on what would have been her 64th birthday, that she was very well liked.
We used to have a man who walked up and down Virginia Street in Reno and the main street in Carson City, known as The Waver. He would smile and wave at everyone who drove past him. He made so many people feel welcome to the area. He lived in the area, going out nearly every day to walk and wave, for over thirty years.
